Old Dominion Finds Way to Make Songs Even More Meaningless in New Album with Only “Meows”
In a world of so much uncertainty, 2020 has brought us a LOT of different things. Since most of those have been for the worse, and with Old Dominion’s history of hardly having any ties to country music, I assumed their new album would be no different. I was wrong.
Old Dominion finally did it. A new, mainstream Pop Country album with no mention of trucks, girls, beer, or even a single dirt road. Instead of hearing all of the usual country music cliches, Old Dominion swapped out every single word in their songs and replaced them all with the same one… “Meow”.
Me being what some call a “country music purist”, I inherently despise the Old Dominions and Dan + Shays of the industry. However, for a brief 30-45 seconds I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed the first track off of this Old Dominion album with moderate laughter. That being said, 46 seconds into that same song I started to get just as annoyed with it as I would with any of their normal stuff.
