Cody Canada Set to Re-record Ragweed Album “Soul Gravy”

It’s been over 12 years since the last release from Cross Canadian Ragweed. Now, we know a reunion from the band is less likely than Walker Hayes releasing a good country song, but Cody Canada might be doing the next best thing.
Cody sat down with me last week in Iowa City and explained that The Departed is re-recording “Soul Gravy”, Ragweed’s 2004 album. “We didn’t even know we didn’t own some of our music until we hit the road and asked for some to sell”, Cody told me. He said the record label told him, “You can buy it”. Cody referenced a few years back when Taylor Swift had the same issue with her label. Taylor’s solution was to re-record her music and own it outright, to Cody that sounds like a great idea.
The new album will be produced by Mike McClure, a Oklahoma and Red Dirt Music staple. Cody also said that he wants his kids to sing on the album as well, calling it a “Family Affair”. We don’t yet have a timeline on the release of this record, however we do know the studio is already booked. Cody also mentioned that he really wants this to be released on vinyl, which is great news for all you vinyl spinners out there like me.
