The wait is over, folks.

John R. Miller will be releasing Depreciated, on July 16, 2021. This will be John’s first release since signing with the prestigious Rounder Records just a little while back.

We haven’t heard from John since 2018’s release, The Trouble You Follow, and I can say with full confidence that this will be a contender for Album of the Year in our circles, if not the runaway favorite. John had this to say to Hippies & Cowboys about the new project:

“We made “Depreciated” in about 3 days, the result of a couple years of road-work, and it came out a bit more personal than projects I’ve done in the past. I’m fortunate to have been able to work on this record with an incredibly intuitive group of folks I consider dear friends, and I’m grateful to Rounder for giving us the opportunity to share it with people.

Longtime fans of John’s will be excited to see that he cut some fan favorites such as “Faustina”, “Motor’s Fried”, and of course, “Coming Down”, which Tyler Childers covered on his Red Barn Radio live album.

If you happen to be new to his music, John is quietly (secret’s out) one of the best songwriters on this earth right now. It’s kind of one of those things, when you talk to folks in and around the Appalachian scene, John’s name will be one of the first to come up when you start talking great songwriters. Not only that, but John and his band put on one hell of a show too, so if you get the chance to catch him live, DO NOT pass up the opportunity.

We’ll be catching up with John soon on the Hippies & Cowboys Podcast to chat more about the new record. Keep your eyes peeled! You an hear the latest single from the upcoming record, “Shenandoah Shakedown” available on all streaming platforms today.
